Mosaics:
A picture made of tiny pieces of colored stone, glass tile or paper adhered to a surface. It is typically decorative work for walls, vaults, ceilings or floors. Individual tiles are set in plaster, concrete or adhered with glue. The earliest known mosaics were found in Ancient Mesopotamia from about 3000 B.C. This ancient art form is still used today and is a well-respected art.
For this project you must have a COLOR PICTURE OF AN ANIMAL that you think describes or represents your personality. The picture MUST BE AT LEAST 3X3 INCHES.
Step 1:
Draw your animal on a larger piece of paper. It should include you animal as well as it's environment/habitat. Be sure to outline the different colors found in the animal and the environment that surrounds it. This will make it easier for you to apply the correct colors in the correct spots when completing the mosaic portion of the project.
Step 3:
Using tracing paper, transfer your drawing onto cardboard. You must trace the image on both sides of the tracing paper to transfer it to your cardboard.
Step 4:
Begin to find pages in magazines that have the colors you need for your animal and for its environment. Save them in a bag with your name and block written on it. (Your magazine pieces cannot have any words on them).
Step 5:
Begin to glue down your magazine pieces using Elmer’s glue. You MUST cover ALL of your cardboard.
Your magazine pieces can be no larger than: 1/4 inch
